What To Expect

Personalized Medicine

We are firmly against a one-size-fits-all approach. Close monitoring, dosage adjustments and your access to our physician is what enables the highest level of customization, and that leads to better outcomes and greater peace of mind for you.

Unlike many Ketamine Clinics, we schedule no more than two patients at a time, allowing us to dedicate our attention to you completely during your treatment sessions.

Ketamine is a drug that should be administered by a physician with the expertise and experience in its use and side effects. At KDI Health, you will be cared for by our board-certified Emergency Physician, Dr. Gasper, who has over a decade of experience administering ketamine in a clinical setting.

KDI Health Ketamine Clinic takes all the necessary steps to ensure your comfort and safety at all times. We will monitor you throughout your infusion, with state of the art equipment. This is done to assure your comfort and safety and to allow us to make the delicate adjustments necessary to maximize Ketamine’s effectiveness while minimizing side-effects.

Getting Started

We are pleased and excited that you are considering KDI Health for your health and wellness. You can reach out to us through our website or by phone to see if you might be a candidate for ketamine infusion therapy. We will schedule your request consultation at our clinic so you can meet with Dr. Gasper and discuss if ketamine could be the right treatment for you.

Consultation

You’ll come to our clinic for a consultation with Dr. Gasper, our board certified emergency physician with nearly 15 years experience in administering ketamine. This is an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have and to discuss your symptoms, medical history, and goals for treatment. Dr. Gasper will determine if you are a good candidate for ketamine, and if so, we will schedule your six infusions over a 2-3 week period.

First Appointment

Your first appointment will take about an hour and a half. You’ll need to have a trusted friend or family member pick you up. They don’t have to be here during your infusion, but they are welcome to wait in our quiet and comfortable waiting room with complimentary Wi-Fi, drinks and snacks. Prior to your first infusion, we’ll have you fill out some paperwork, take full payment for the stabilization series and then you’ll provide a sample for urinalysis. After that, you’re ready to start your infusion.

Settled In

We will get you settled into a recliner in one of our private treatment rooms. Dr. Gasper will go over the plan and answer any questions you may have. We will then start an IV, typically in your arm or hand, and connect you to a monitor to track your blood pressure and heart rate. We will provide you with a blanket, noise cancelling headphones, eye mask, and full access to Amazon’s music and relaxing sounds. Once you’re comfortable, we will begin administering ketamine slowly over the next 45 minutes. Dr. Gasper will routinely check on you, monitor your vitals, and ensure you are attaining a therapeutic dose.

The Experience

The experience is dependent on the dose and the patient. You will be awake during the infusion but in a deep state of relaxation. There may be new perspectives and often deep and meaningful insights. Often, patients will feel a sense of distance from the body and sense of self, replaced by an experience of connection with something larger – an expansion of the boundary of conscious awareness that can be a powerful and positive transformative experience.

Re-Entry

After the infusion is complete, we will sit with you until you are ready to get up and leave with your ride. You may be a bit unsteady on your feet, but patients are able to walk with assistance. You’ll want to go home and rest for the remainder of the day. We do recommend working with your therapist for further integration in the days and weeks that follow the treatment. We follow up with each patient monthly to monitor the effects of the ketamine. Some patients experience lasting relief from their symptoms while others need occasional single booster doses. Something to always keep in mind is; ketamine will not “cure” your depression. Many patients find relief quickly but will require additional infusions to maintain this new level of depression symptom relief.
